Note

you need to keep Java 8 JRE installed on your pc for Minecraft™ to work

Step 1 - Download the Java 11 JDK. There are multiple websites available (like Oracle or adopt to open jdk) which you may download from. We recommend using adopt open jdk.

Step 2 - Choose “OpenJDK 11 (LTS)”. You may pick any other version if you would like (but it has to be higher than Java 11).

Step 3 - Choose the “HotSpot” as the JVM

Step 4 - Select “Windows” drop the dropdown menu

Step 5 - Select the correct architecture that you have. e.g 64x (64 bit) or x86 (32 bit).

Dont know how to find it? Open System Information (search for System Information in the search bar) and look for “System Type”.

Step 6 - Download the JDK (recommended .msi)

Step 7 - Open the .msi file

Follow the instructions of the installer

Step 8 - Press “Finish”

To check that you installed Java 11 correctly, open up cmd (Windows key + r then type cmd and run). In the command prompt, type “java -version”

MacOS

Dont know how to find it? Open the command prompt and type uname -m

Step 6 - Download the JDK (recommended .pkg)

Step 7 - Open the .pkg file. Follow the instructions of the installer

Step 8 - Press “Finish”

To check that you installed Java 11 correctly, open up cmd (search for “terminal” in the spotlight feature). In the command prompt, type “java -version”. It should display that java 11 is installed.

Linux
